Little has changed since then. Some hospitals have minimal resources, and dedicated doctors and nurses struggle to provide even the most basic level of health care. Romania has the largest Roma population of any European country. Discrimination is widespread. The Roma live in extreme poverty, with few amenities such as water and electricity, and are rarely offered employment.
